MY LIFE
I have been living in Germany since 1981, when I first came to play with Rhapsody. I am married and have 3 children, two boys and a girl. They are all grown up now. My life is centred around music, touring, composing, writing lyrics, playing guitar and singing in different formations, freelancing with different Bands, playing dlfferent styles of music, some Blues, old standards, pop, but mostly Caribbean roots, reggae and soca. Would I ever go back to Barbados? Certainly! Barbados will always be home to me. Unfortunately, I don´t get back too often, but when I do, it´s hard when I have to leave. My greatest achievement! I look at my life in terms of highlights, two of which would be performing in Carthage, Tunisia in an international Festival in 2012, where many of the great musicians of the world from every genre of music have played. Thousands of people attended that festival, and the atmosphere was electric. The other highlight was performing at the unveiling of the Bob Marley Statue in the village of Banatski Sokolac in Serbia. Marley´s popularity is worldwide, and the name is still powerful. It was a great experience. Memories that I will always cherish. Through music, I have had the privilege to visit many places that I had only learned about in geography and history books. Very fascinating. What the future holds, no one can tell, but I´ll continue to be involved in music as long as I can. Bertram Connell
