While attending the Coleridge and Parry School, Roderick's basketball's career took off. After graduating in July, 1993 at age 16, he immediately immigrated to the United States, to join his mother, who was already living in New York City for nine years. His grandmother was afraid he had started hanging with "bad company" at the time, and she felt it was time for him to be closer to his mother. Upon arriving in New York, after winning the first Under 16 Basketball Championship, at the newly constructed Wildey Gymnasium. He tried out for Springfield Gardens High School Varsity Team and made it! he played for one year and decided to stay local, in order to attend Queensborough Community College, wherehe was selected for the team. However, he decided to become employed instead.

Roderick Burnett was born in Hothersal turning, St. Michael, on the beautiful island of Barbados. He is the son of two loving parents. His mother, a former registered nurse, and his Late father, who was a teacher at parkinson Secondary. He attended St. Matthews Primary School, and his Secondary school years were spent at the Coleridge and parry School. St. Matthew Church was a second home to him, as he served on the altar for many years. His hobbies are, Basketball and Pets. Roderick has a natural talent for taking care of everything; thus, his love for raising fish, rabbits, dogs, cats, pigeons, and exotic birds, while living in Barbados.
